The Overseas Old Boys rugby team grew out of Hong Kong's New Year's Day Youth Rugby Tournament. We've played every HKFC 10s since 2004.

OSOB has its roots in the New Year's Day Youth Rugby Tournament, a fixture of Hong Kong rugby since 1967. Teams coached by Rob Wright and Tony Pannell went unbeaten there from 1997 to 2002, and in 2004 the two took the old boys to the HKFC 10s. We have played every tournament since; there was none from 2020 to 2022.

When OSOB began, the squad was made up entirely of players born and raised in Hong Kong and students home from university. Over the years we have welcomed players from all over the world, but we still field at least five local Hong Kong players at every tournament.

The squad works hard on the pitch and keeps things fun and inclusive off it. Our aim is simple: to share our love of rugby, and OSOB's spirit, with everyone we play.

Behind the team are our sponsors, coaches, team manager and waterboy. That effort, from the pitch to the sidelines, is what makes OSOB special.

What we stand for

  • Camaraderie

A strong sense of community and shared purpose, and friendships that last well beyond the final whistle.

  • Sportsmanship

Fair play, respect for our opponents, and playing the game with integrity.

  • Respect

We value what every member brings, and keep the club inclusive and welcoming to all.
